TouchBistro Bookkeeping Services & POS Accounting

TouchBistro is an iPad-based restaurant POS and management system built exclusively for restaurants — and like most POS platforms, it is not accounting software. There is no native general ledger; accounting connectivity runs through third-party bridges enabled in TouchBistro’s App Marketplace: Shogo, which the vendor says connects TouchBistro to QuickBooks, Sage, Xero and Oracle NetSuite, and MarginEdge, which automates the flow of daily sales into your accounting software. TouchBistro’s own Profit Management back-office product is itself powered by MarginEdge.

So the books live in QuickBooks or Xero, fed by a bridge that someone has to configure and watch. Maxim Liberty has been that someone for restaurants since 2005 — plans from $75/month, with a dedicated bookkeeper and supervisor on every plan.

Two Report Worlds: the iPad and the Cloud

TouchBistro splits its reporting between the POS itself and the cloud portal. On the iPad, the vendor documents accounting-grade reports — Accounts, Tax (including reduced and alcohol-specific rates), Detailed Sales CSV, Payouts, and Gift Card Activity. The cloud portal adds sales by category and item, labor with gross pay and overtime, payments and tips by method and staff, gratuity and service charges, and scheduled email exports in CSV and XLSX.

Good bookkeeping on TouchBistro means knowing which surface answers which question — and tying both to what the sync actually posted into the accounting file.

Where TouchBistro Books Go Wrong

The sync is third-party by design. Shogo and MarginEdge are configured once, then trusted for years: new menu categories, tax rates or service charges added on the iPad post wherever the original mapping sends them. When the map drifts, every day posts wrong until someone reconciles POS reports against the GL.

Payments add their own wrinkle. TouchBistro Payments is US-only, with deposits next business day for Chase and one to four business days elsewhere — while other processors (Worldpay, Chase Payment Solutions, Moneris) each settle on their own terms. Deposit timing differences are normal; unexplained ones are not, and telling them apart is the job.

Core TouchBistro Bookkeeping Functions We Manage

1. Sync Configuration and Mapping Audit

Whether you run Shogo or MarginEdge, we audit the category-to-GL mapping and the export schedule, and re-verify it whenever the menu, tax setup or chart of accounts changes.

2. Daily Sales Verification

We tie the daily entries in QuickBooks or Xero back to TouchBistro’s own reports — categories, taxes, tenders, discounts and voids — and clear discrepancies while they are one day old, not one quarter old.

3. Tips, Autograts and Service Charges

Using the cloud Payments & Tips and Gratuity & Service Charges reports, we keep tip liabilities reconciled through to payroll — TouchBistro lists 7shifts and Push Operations as its scheduling and payroll partners, and we work with the outputs either way.

4. Deposit and Fee Reconciliation

Card settlements get matched to bank deposits net of processing costs, across TouchBistro Payments or partner processors, with fees recorded as expense rather than lost in deposit variances.

5. Multi-Location Consolidated Reporting

TouchBistro’s multi-unit cloud reporting consolidates venues in real time; we make the accounting match — per-location P&Ls, consistent charts, and clean consolidation for the group.

The TouchBistro Rescue: When the Sync Was Never Watched

A typical rescue file has a Shogo map last touched at onboarding, months of daily entries in a suspense account, gift card activity never recorded as a liability, and deposits reconciled to nothing. We rebuild from TouchBistro’s iPad and cloud reports, correct the mapping, restate the affected months, and reconcile forward until the file is current and tax-ready — with your supervisor quality-checking each period.

Frequently Asked Questions About TouchBistro Bookkeeping

Does TouchBistro integrate directly with QuickBooks?

Not natively — TouchBistro’s documented accounting connections run through Shogo, which the vendor says connects to QuickBooks, Sage, Xero and Oracle NetSuite, or through MarginEdge. Both are enabled from TouchBistro’s cloud App Marketplace, and both need their GL mapping configured and maintained.

Does TouchBistro have payroll?

No native payroll is documented. TouchBistro lists Push Operations and 7shifts as staff scheduling and payroll partners. We reconcile labor, tips and gratuities from TouchBistro’s reports through whichever payroll platform you use.

Which TouchBistro reports do you work from?

The iPad accounting reports — Accounts, Tax, Detailed Sales CSV, Payouts, Gift Card Activity — plus cloud reports for category sales, labor, payments and tips, and gratuity and service charges, which can be scheduled as recurring CSV or XLSX exports.

Can you clean up months of unverified sync entries?

Yes. We correct the Shogo or MarginEdge mapping, rebuild the affected months from TouchBistro’s own reports, and reconcile the bank forward until current — covered by our 100% money-back guarantee on your first deposit.
